Still Life / Allegory – Escaping the Knife
Pic Description: 36" x 30" Acrylic on canvas by John Newell

A sumptuous repast in the making. The ingredients are fresh, nutritious and beyond the reach of most of the world’s starving children. The images of two of those children struggle to break free of their captive images in the knife blade to sample lush foods all readily available throughout the world but out of reach for them.

I see the image on the knife now. It does add another dimension to this piece. A subtle gesture that makes you re-evaluate the whole painting.
