Art of Quotation

Post by Mauveduh » Fri Jan 09, 2004 7:08 pm

I love a good inpirational or commentary quote. I think I will add a quote of the day here. To distill a thought-provoking idea or truth in a short clip of carefully-crafted words that speaks abstractly, yet clearly, is a formidable artform.

Some of the greats are the good old Mark Twain variety. He came up with some great ones.

It's not my forte, which is probably one of the reasons I admire it so much. I have to go on for days till I get my point out.

I have a bit of a collection of quotes. If anyone has any they would like to contribute, please post them, or add them to your signature. Or email them for inclusion in the quote of the day.

Groucho marks was a master at this. That quote is a classic. I think they teach this in the 'how to be a politician' class.

I was at a funeral today and part of the eulogy was quotes this person was famous for, ( not well known outside the family of course)
"After I catch this fish and the other two I'm working on I'll have three"
" Anybody can drive a new car but it takes a real driver to drive a piece of s**t"
