Finding a niche is probably the first step and one of the most difficult. It should also be something that you feel passionate about so your heart will be in it.

Anyone have any tips?

I'm no expert here but I will start brainstorming.

-Identify a need. Look for a problem and find a way to solve it with a valuable service.

-Take a product and look at how to make it better. Or find something unique about it to package it in a way that will make it more attractive to a market segment.

-Have a product that consistently grabs attention and feedback is positive? That's a good indication to consider it for further research.

-Have an obsession? Others probably have it too. Seek out like-minded people and start profiling that market.

-Look for emerging trends. What are the current trends? Speculate on the next ones. That's a favorite of mine. But don't ask me what the new ones are. ;-) If you do identify one, how does it fit with your personal interests?

Hi all, and Merry Christmas!

Great post Mauveduh

Marketing to a niche is probably the most important to succeeding at first. Finding a product that people need, want, and will pay for is perhaps the most difficult process with all the competition out there. Getting your name out there is also prime importance to getting traffic to your site.

As far as internet businesses, one of the ways to find a niche is to watch the keywords being searched for on the search engines. People are searching for what they need at Yahoo, Google, MSN, etc. and they are typing in search phrases to find those sites that have products that interest them.

There are programs available that will list out the most popular keywords and keyword phrases being searched for, and you can determine from there what markets or products need to be improved on. And you can determine whether you want to pursue those opportunities.

There are volumes of information available on Internet marketing boards to give you more detailed information on going about this. Just a thought . . . now back to Christmas.

Have a safe and happy holiday season!

Panicky investors and savers visualise a world that has been turned upside down by a sovereign debt crisis that breaks both the euro and flattens the once mighty dollar. As the west sinks into a quagmire of its own making, demand plummets and the world is dragged into another Great Depression. Even the emerging markets of China, India and Brazil are affected as export markets shrivel. Political instability follows, with riots on the streets and unemployment at levels not seen since the 1930s. This nightmare vision has rattled investors around the word, driving the gold price ever higher. Of all the precious metals, it is the most popular as an investment. Since the earliest times, it has been seen as both a symbol of prosperity and a store of wealth. In the modern era, it has been bought as a hedge against economic, political or social crises, and as protection against the plummeting value of currencies.

Online businesses are finding their way to popularity more easier and faster than offline ones. This is due to instant response and ease of shopping that is loved by customers.
